High School Acting Lab
with Stephanie Temple

Students: Grades 9-12
Day/Time: Saturdays, 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Dates: October 18- December 13 (8 classes, no class 11/29)
Showcase Performance on 12/13 at 1 pm
(Students must be available from 10 am-2 pm on showcase day)

Level: Intermediate to Advanced (some experience required)
Tuition: $475
In this fast-paced, high-energy acting class, high school performers will explore the art of sketch comedy, improv, and physical theatre with a nod to the bold characters and big laughs of vaudeville and vintage variety shows. You’ll write and perform original scenes, develop unique characters, and sharpen your timing, collaboration, and stage presence. This advanced class, led by Education Director Stephanie Temple, will challenge you to take creative risks and go for the big laughs! Students will perform in an original Conservatory showcase, Make ‘em Laugh on 12/13 from 12-1 pm (featuring scenes and songs from our Acting and Musical Theatre classes).
*Please be sure you can commit to the schedule and especially the final two classes (dress rehearsal & showcase day), and communicate any conflicts before registering. Unapproved absences may result in removal from some or all performance pieces--the show must go on, after all. Students must be available from 10 am-1 pm on showcase day.
*This class is intended to be part one of two. The fall session is open to all. Advanced students will be invited to join the spring production session (1/10-5/3). Admittance to the spring session (based on experience, maturity, and project chosen) is determined by the Education Director. Youth Acting Lab
with Will Mattingly

Students: Grades 3-5

Get ready to giggle and goof onstage! In this seriously funny acting lab, students will explore silly characters and comedy skits inspired by the golden age of vaudeville. Through games, improv, and sketch-style scenes, our budding class clowns will build confidence, timing, and teamwork—all while having an unforgettable time.
Students will perform in an original Conservatory showcase, Make ‘em Laugh on 12/13 from 12-1 pm (featuring scenes and songs from our Acting and Musical Theatre classes).

Double the Fun, One Easy Drop-Off!
Combine with the Youth Musical Theatre (from 10:00 am-11:20 am) and stay at NCTC from 10 am-1 pm. Our Saturday Conservatory acting and musical theatre classes are designed to complement each other, giving students a deeper, more well-rounded training experience. Enroll in both and your child will enjoy three full hours of creative learning—all with just one drop-off and pick-up. It’s the perfect way to build skills, confidence, and stage presence in one exciting morning!

Teen Musical Theatre

Level: Beginner to intermediate (no experience necessary)

Whether it’s your first time singing and dancing or you’re ready for a tune-up, this class will give you a little bit of everything. Using songs from showbiz musicals such as The Greatest Showman, we’ll work on storytelling through singing and use easy-to-follow choreography to build dynamic performances. Students will perform in an original Conservatory showcase, Make ‘em Laugh on 12/13 from 12-1 pm (featuring scenes and songs from our Acting and Musical Theatre classes).

Audition Essentials: Actor Edition

New to auditioning or feeling a little rusty? This class is your one-stop shop for everything you need to walk into the audition room with confidence. You’ll learn the basics of audition etiquette, how to choose and perform a strong monologue, tackle cold readings, and put together a simple actor resume—even if you don’t have a long list of credits (yet!).
Taught in a supportive, low-pressure environment, this class aims to demystify the process, practice real-world scenarios, and give you practical tools to shine—whether you’re auditioning for the first time or stepping back into the spotlight.

Improv 101

This fun, no-pressure class is the perfect first step! You’ll learn the core skills of improvisation—like saying “yes, and,” thinking on your feet, and supporting your scene partners—while playing classic games that build confidence, spontaneity, and connection. Designed for beginners, this short-term course is all about having fun, loosening up, and discovering the joy of improv. Whether you want to perform, meet new people, or just laugh after a long day, this is your invitation to jump in and play.

Kid's Play...for ADULTS!

Ever dreamed of playing Peter Pan, the Fairy Godmother, or that over-the-top villain from your favorite childhood story? In Kid’s Play, adult students step into the magical world of children’s theatre—this time as the stars! With guidance from a director, you’ll rehearse, stage, and perform the full show, culminating in a final performance for invited guests.
This class is all about letting go, tapping into your inner kid, and embracing the silly, heartfelt, and theatrical fun of children’s theatre—with all the wisdom (and none of the self-consciousness) of adulthood. Whether you loved the spotlight in 3rd grade or never got your chance to shine, now’s the time to play—like a kid!

Murder Mystery Improv

Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Love Agatha Christie? Obsessed with Poirot, Knives Out, or Only Murders in the Building? In this twisty Improv class, you’ll step right into the action—where everyone is a suspect, and no one can be trusted.
Each week, you’ll dive into a brand-new whodunit scenario and embody over-the-top characters with mysterious motives. Practice essential improv skills while solving (or covering up!) the crime through storytelling, quick thinking, and plenty of dramatic flair. Whether you're the charming detective or the suspicious baker with a dark past, you'll have a blast building scenes, creating alibis, and throwing your scene partners off your trail.
No experience solving crimes required—just bring your imagination and your best poker face.

Teen Acting Ensemble: Mini-Play

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Take the spotlight and bring a story to life! In this dynamic, hands-on acting class, teen performers will collaborate on a 20-minute mini-play—complete with costume pieces, props, and a final performance on a professional stage for family and friends. Students will dive deep into character development, sharpen their script and memorization skills, and discover what it really takes to build a performance from the ground up. Along the way, you’ll learn how to take direction, support your ensemble, and experience the thrill of creating theatre as a team. (Play title is TBD)
