In this fast-paced, high-energy acting class, high school performers will explore the art of sketch comedy, improv, and physical theatre with a nod to the bold characters and big laughs of vaudeville and vintage variety shows. You’ll write and perform original scenes, develop unique characters, and sharpen your timing, collaboration, and stage presence. This advanced class, led by Education Director Stephanie Temple, will challenge you to take creative risks and go for the big laughs! Students will perform in an original Conservatory showcase, Make ‘em Laugh on 12/13 from 12-1 pm (featuring scenes and songs from our Acting and Musical Theatre classes).

*Please be sure you can commit to the schedule and especially the final two classes (dress rehearsal & showcase day), and communicate any conflicts before registering. Unapproved absences may result in removal from some or all performance pieces--the show must go on, after all. Students must be available from 10 am-1 pm on showcase day.

*This class is intended to be part one of two. The fall session is open to all. Advanced students will be invited to join the spring production session (1/10-5/3). Admittance to the spring session (based on experience, maturity, and project chosen) is determined by the Education Director. Learn more about the High School Performance Ensemble and the spring play schedule
