New Conservatory Theatre Center

Level: Beginner to intermediate (no experience needed)

Inspiration is everywhere in this one-of-a-kind Acting Lab! Each week, students will sharpen their improvisation skills through group warm-ups. Next, they’ll be given a brand-new, creative prompt—such as a haunting photograph, a striking piece of music, a bizarre costume piece, a historical artifact, or a strange headline. Working collaboratively in small groups, students will devise unique scenes from scratch. They’ll learn to say "Yes, and..." to their peers' ideas, build high-stakes dramatic tension, and develop complex characters. By stepping out of the bounds of pre-written scripts, young actors will unlock their own creative voices and gain confidence in their storytelling abilities. Families will be invited to an Open Studio Presentation on the final day of class.

Double the Fun, One Easy Drop-Off! Combine with the Teen Musical Theatre (from 11:40 am-1:00 pm) and stay at NCTC from 10 am-1 pm (with a 10-minute snack break in between). Our Saturday Conservatory acting and musical theatre classes are designed to complement each other, giving students a deeper, more well-rounded training experience. Enroll in both and your child will enjoy three full hours of creative learning—all with just one drop-off and pick-up. It’s the perfect way to build skills, confidence, and stage presence in one exciting morning!
